Kelmscott Manor was the home of William Morris and his family from 1871 until his death. He fondly called it 'a heaven on earth'. He loved it as a work of true craftmanship, totally unspoilt and unaltered and in harmony with the surrounding countryside, and it was a great inspiration for him for his designs and writings. We will see his iconic collection of artwork and objects owned and designed by the Father of the Arts and Crafts Movement. We enjoy morning coffee or tea on arrival, followed by a self guided tour of the house and grounds and a buffet lunch.
After lunch we travel the short distsnce to Buscot Park, a fine 18th century mansion which is the family home of Lord Faringdon and the collection of art work, furniture, sculptures and objets d'art known as the Faringdon Collection. The enchanting landscaped grounds include pleasure gardens, a Four Seasons walled garden, woodland walks and a splendid Italianate water garden. There is also a tea room. We plan to depart at approximately 4.15pm.
