Did ever golf club have a nineteenth hole
So sumptuous as this?
Sir John Betjeman, Metroland (1973)

Moor Park Mansion
This Grade 1 listed Palladian mansion, one of the UK's great architectural treasures, has for over 100 years served as the clubhouse of one of its top golf clubs.
Since acquiring the freehold of the estate in 1994 Moor Park Golf Club has invested millions in restoring the building and its exceptional interior and set up The Moor Park Heritage Foundation, whose charitable remit is to ensure the heritage chattels located there are maintained and preserved "for the benefit of the nation at large".

We are delighted to support them in this task.
Creating the public tours
One important stipulation in the Foundation's charitable remit is that it must ensure the Mansion is opened to the public on a number of days each year. The Trustees turned to local Arts Societies for help to create the tour experience.
Since 1994 many eager and expert volunteers from Bushey, Harrow, Rickmansworth and Moor Park have worked together to research and compile the definitive history of the estate, its many owners, and the artistic treasures it contains.

What we do .....
In recent years the negotiation of dates with the Club, as well as the management, administration and selling of the public tours, has been led by volunteers from The Arts Society Moor Park.
We also provide the stewards and Heritage Guides - all volunteers too - who, armed with a mine of information, are dedicated to ensuring that every lucky visitor booked on a guided tour is able to enjoy this wonderful example of the UK's artistic heritage to the full.
Become a Heritage Volunteer .....
We are always looking for new volunteers to join our team of Heritage Tour Guides - and you don't need to be a member of The Arts Society Moor Park to do so (although most are).
You'll need good presentation skills, excellent voice projection, a retentive memory for all the information there is to learn, and a real interest and enthusiasm for the period, artworks and backstories of all those associated with Moor Park over its history.

Organisers of groups wishing to visit the Mansion must contact Moor Park Golf Club direct to arrange a mutually convenient date for a private visit. Olivia Martin is the Events Co-ordinator; telephone 01923 721665, or email olivia.martin@moorparkgc.co.uk.
