Gainsborough’s House

Gainsborough’s House from the historic walled garden

BOOKING FOR THIS EVENT IS EXPECTED TO OPEN IN JANUARY 2027

Today we visit Gainsborough's House and museum in Sudbury, Suffolk, the birthplace and childhood home of Thomas Gainsborough, now the National Centre for the artist and his works, which holds the world's most comprehensive collection of his art on permanent display. After refreshments on arrival, we will have a Guided Historic House and Gallery Tour.

We will have time for lunch in the museum’s café, The Watering Place, which looks out onto the beautiful garden. After lunch we will have a Guided Tour of Gainsborough’s Sudbury – a gentle one-hour walking tour of the key landmarks, historic locations and places that shaped Gainsborough’s early life and artistic vision.
