Hughenden Manor and Waddesdon at Christmas
Outside Visit
3 December 2025

Hughenden Manor in the snow
Today we visited two glorious National Trust houses decked out for Christmas.
First stop on our day out was Hughenden Manor, home of Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. Inspired by the magic of the first Christmas card and the golden age of letter writing, this year's Christmas theme brought together the elegance of the Victorian era and the heartwarming story of a 1940s wartime Christmas at Hughenden.
After lunch on arrival, a festive trans-European Grand Tour awaited us at Waddesdon.
Every stop on the journey within the house highlighted a different city, blending local heritage and festive customs and links to Waddesdon’s famous collection, all brought to life by immersive light art and beautiful decorations.
In the grounds, we visited the famous Christmas Fair and Food Village, and followed the spectacular Outdoor Light Trail and Illuminations, which transformed Waddesdon’s majestic facade and landscape into a kaleidoscope of colour, lights and music.
Both houses had refreshments and gift shops, with lots of festive options available.
