Ashmolean Museum Oxford - Money Talks Art Society and Power

Ashmolean Museum Facade

The major exhibition Money Talks: Art, Society & Power at the Ashmolean Museum features more than 100 objects from across the globe, including artworks by Rembrandt, Andy Warhol, Guerrilla Girls, Grayson Perry and Bansky.

Alongside these artworks is a range of money, including Roman, Chinese and Islamic coins, Art Nouveau banknotes, and the artwork for the currency featuring Kings Edward VIII and Charles III, on display for the first time. Weaving stories and perspectives from across the world, with international objects and items from the Ashmolean's leading collections, and reflections on the place of physical currency in 2024, Money Talks explores how the everyday artworks in our pockets act as a mirror to our society.

After our introductory talk and visiting the Exhibition you are free to wander the main galleries of the museum at leisure.

You may choose to lunch in the museum or at one of the many places to eat outside, then afterwards perhaps explore some of the magnificent sights of the city, or visit the famous Covered Market - all within a short walking distance.
